La Nit

Acoustic Bass Guitar Solo (2012)

IMG

"La Nit" is music inspired by five stories written by Eduardo Mendoza, Miquel de Palol, Julio Wallovits, Flavia Company and Monika ZGustova, respectively. Authors who know Barcelona and who set these stories there that composed the script for the play "Un dia d'aquests", coordinated by Pep Tosar.

And the gestation of this music began the day the authors read each of the booklets for the others. Five different but undoubtedly connected stories, and the feeling of living a unique moment, in which the author, already reconciled with the written work, defended it with passion...

The result is a collection of music that refers to each other, composed and performed on the acoustic bass. The recordings have been made in the hórreo of Os Vilares, (La Nit, Green In Blue, Dijous Sant, Septimania), at the Igrexa de Santa Maria de Valonga (Marina, Les Escales, Urbanites, T30) and in the sacristy of the Church of Sant Ramon, in Penamazada (Poble Sec, Rabassada). Both chapels courtesy of the rector of Meira, Don Miguel Asorey.

La Nit - tracks

“La Nit” evokes the sea and the beach at night, where dreams are mixed with memories and where not everything has an explanation.
“Marina” it's a story that repeats itself even though each time seems like the first time, the sea is the way out.
“Green In Blue” Pointing to the characters of "Addictes per Barcelona", by Flavia Company, and after making a connection with the story of Bill Evans, who composed "Blue In Green".
“Les Escales” It is a piece of music inspired by the story of Julio Wallovits, which takes place on the stairs of an allegedly modernist building.
“Dijous Sant” It is the dialogue of an addict, who gives himself reasons and arguments to follow or not to follow, within a sordid universe of hard and sharp realities.
“Poble Sec” It is music for the city, at night with people on the street and the night is still here evoking dreams and memories, mixed together.
“Rabassada” It's a motorcycle excursion along the Rabassada road, when you didn't have to wear a helmet...
“Septimània” and “Turó de La Peira” are parts of Barcelona where I have experienced things.
“Urbanites”and “T30″ they are music related to the end of Gaudí, who was hit by a tram on line 30 at the Gran Via junction with Girona.
